Two-Story Addition in South Minneapolis

Follow along as we build a two-story Addition on the back of this home in Minneapolis. The project includes an expanded Owner’s Suite, 2 Baths, & a Kitchen remodel.
Drywall
This home Addition is really coming together as the walls go up!
This South Minneapolis Home Addition is starting to look like a brand new space! Installing drywall will define the individual spaces for the Kitchen, Mudroom, Powder Room, Owner’s Suite, and upstairs Bath. The new doorways are drywalled to accommodate casing (wood trim). The new woodwork will be stained to match the home’s original millwork. Once the walls are installed, taped, mudded, sanded, and primed, we’ll move on to flooring, tile, and trim carpentry.
Closed-cell spray foam insulation is added to the framed Kitchen walls on the first floor of the new Addition.

The Kitchen drywall has been taped, mudded, sanded, and primed.
A new door creates access to the backyard from the Kitchen, making outdoor dining and entertaining easier. It will be stained to match the home's existing woodwork.
We've widened the doorway between the new Kitchen and the existing Dining Room.
The Powder Room drywall is almost complete. Because this Powder Room is off of a hallway, we’ll install a space-saving pocket door stained to match the home’s existing woodwork.
In the new Owner's Bedroom portion of the Addition, there is a new large closet and an area to the left where we will add built-in storage.
Here's the owner's suite drywall in progress. The plywood will be replaced with windows.
The drywall is complete in the new 2nd-floor Owner's Bedroom portion of the Addition. The windows have also been installed.
The new Owner's Bedroom on the Addition's second floor also has three new windows overlooking the backyard.
