Thoughtful Home Addition on a Tight Minneapolis Lot

For this Lake Nokomis home, satisfying a need for more space and better storage meant designing a mudroom addition at the rear of the home that functioned as a more welcoming entry with seasonal storage and views to the backyard suitable for year-round use and day-to-day storage. Designers considered the limited lot size and the desire to preserve yard space to find the right size for the new mudroom.  In the kitchen, we tore down walls and low soffits to increase maneuverability on the main level. Selections like the handcrafted backsplash tiles, pops of bold blues, rounded countertop edges, sleek walnut cabinets, and floating shelving add personality and modern sophistication to the room.
