Adding an Accessory Dwelling Unit to this Minneapolis Home
Owners of this 1931 Tudor Home in the Standish-Ericsson neighborhood came to us with the idea of adding an apartment above their detached garage. We tore down the existing structure and built an Accessory Dwelling Unit (ADU) over a new garage. The resulting South Minneapolis ADU has a two-car garage with a studio apartment above that includes a kitchenette with full-size appliances and a 3/4 Bath with a washer & dryer. According to the owners, “Everyone who sees our ADU loves the space, and neighbors are constantly asking about it. I wouldn’t be surprised if we see some more ADUs go up in our neighborhood soon.”
